The Genesis of EAC ( at 18:15, 19:15, 20:15)

27 March 1897, Councilor H.N. Andersen established The East Asiatic Company, headquartered at the India Quay in Søndre Frihavn, Copenhagen. Business was booming, and by the 1970s, EAC was Scandinavia’s largest company. But where did the idea for this Danish global business empire originate? Hear about the genesis and early history of The EAC.

The EAC Fleet (at 18:30, 19:30 and 20:30)

From its humble beginnings in 1897, with the 3-masted barkentine Ragnhild, EAC’s fleet quickly grew into one of the world’s largest and most technologically advanced, with the innovation of the diesel ship. Selandia (1912) is the most famous ship, being the first ever of its kind. Hear Søren Søgaard (EAC Captain) talk about the EAC fleet.

Asia House Today (at 18:45, 19:45, 20:45)

EAC’s legacy and history lives on today in Asia House. The EAC Foundation established Asia House in 2005, as a platform for strengthening Danish relations with Asia. Through seminars, meetings and the implementation of business-promoting projects in Asia, the old house on Indiakaj is once again full of life. Hear about Asia House’s work.
