A look into a closed world – prison history
The prison Museum tells the story of the Copenhagen prison service from 1662 to today. The museum is located close to the thick prison wall of the Western Prison and with view over large parts of the prison, which is Denmark’s largest prison for people in custody. The museum houses different exhibitions each describing life within the walls, as it has been lived through the ages. It is also possible to see how the cells have been furnished, at to see the child killer Dagmar Overbye’s cell.
